SIOUX CITY | Dennis E. Hebert, 63, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Dennis was born on June 15, 1949, in Sioux City, the son of Earl and Joyce (Edwards) Hebert. He attended school in Sioux City and graduated from Riverside High School in 1968. Dennis joined the U.S. Army in 1970 and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972.

Dennis married JoEllen Stotz on Feb. 14, 1981. They made their home in Sioux City. Dennis worked for MidAmerican Energy for more than 33 years, retiring on July 31, 2012.

Dennis had coached girls youth softball and travel teams through SYA. He had also coached girls youth basketball through the YMCA, SYA, Sanford Center, Salvation Army and Sacred Heart. Dennis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

Survivors include his wife, JoEllen of Sioux City; three daughters, Janet and Chris Bentley of Fremont, Neb., Jessica and Cody Fiscus of Sioux City, and Jenna and Derrick Hayden of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren, Madison, Noah, Chesnie, Joel, Nicholas, Aubrey and a new addition due in the summer of 2013; his mother, Joyce McPeek of Sioux City; two sisters, Pam and Doug White and Debbie Santi, all of Sioux City; and his mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Stotz of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl; his stepfather, Donald McPeek, and his father-in-law, James Stotz.
