SIOUX CITY | Jacoba Elizabeth Butcher, 89, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at a local care facility after a long illness.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Speidel will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Jacoba was born on Aug. 12, 1923, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Jozina (Beije) Krommenhoek. Jacoba was a lifelong Sioux City resident and she attended Sioux City schools.

She married Newell H. Butcher on April 27, 1940 in Sioux City. He died on May 27, 2002 in Sioux City. Jacoba worked at various businesses in Sioux City and was a home maker.

She had been a member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church.

Survivors included two children, Michael Butcher of Sioux City, and Linda Luft and her husband Sonny of Dakota City; a son-in-law, Bill Twohig of South Sioux City; five grandchildren, Tammy Williams, Brenda Braunger, Todd Powell, Brett Powell and Tony Butcher; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Jacoba was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Lois Twohig; and her brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be directed to her son Michael.
