SIOUX CITY | Phyllis J. Stapleton, 61, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at her residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Henry Witte officiating. A visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Per her wishes, the body will be cremated following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Phyllis was born on March 10, 1951, in Sioux City, the daughter of Philip and Delores (Castleton) Townsley. Phyllis did volunteer work for the Gospel Mission for several years.

She loved playing bingo and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed talking on the phone. Phyllis was a loving mother and wife. She had a big heart and was a mother to everyone she met.

Survivors include her husband, Garry Stapleton; sons, Gary and Cyndi Townsley Sr., Rodney and his wife, Jennifer Stapleton, Hoss Stapleton, and Gary Townsley Jr., all of Sioux City, and Jordan Townsley of Fort Dodge, Iowa; daughter, Wendy Townsley of Sioux City; brother, Phil and his wife Denise Townsley of Sioux City; sister, Vera Lopez of Sioux City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents.
