Joan A. LaBelle, 69, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Episcopal Indian Mission. Visitation will be held until service time at the church. Arrangements are under the director of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Joan was born Jan. 1, 1943 in Sioux City, the daughter of George and Lillian (John) Torrez. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City, growing up on the south side of the city. She attended Bishop Heelan and entered the work force shortly after. Joan attained different careers throughout her life, finally deciding to be a cook at Perkins. This she chose to do until her retirement, which attests to her work ethic and dedication to her chosen career. Through all this, she still found time to raise five children and assure their future was beneficial to all.

Joan was a very family- and community-oriented woman, with her best times being surrounded by family and friends. She leaves many people with nothing by fond and loving memories.

She is survived by her husband, Milton LaBelle Sr.; five children, Christopher Allen of Sioux City, Lisa Ann Collins of Arkansas, Lisa Stout of Winnebago, Neb., Dawn Marie Stout of Winnebago, and Milton LaBelle Jr. of Sioux City. She is also survived by her most prized assets, her 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren which range from age 22 to 11 months; two sisters, her twin sister, Jean Torrez and Rose Torrez, both of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian Torrez; three brothers, Kenneth, Larry and Raymond Torrez; and a nephew, Stanley James Torrez.
