CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa-- Robert Verl Heath, 81, of Correctionville died, Saturday, April 29, 2000 at his residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Correctionville, with Clif Cockburn officiating. Burial will be in the Correctionville Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family persent 6 to 8 p.m., at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mr. Heath was born Aug. 22, 1918 in Correctionville, the son of Merlin and Myrtle (Wright) Heath. He attended country schools through eighth-grade.

He married Opal Schmidt on Dec. 11, 1940, in Midway, Iowa.

In 1940, he began driving truck with his father. He also farmed until 1950, when he moved into Correctionville. He then drove truck full time and had a corn sheller. He retired in 1996.

He attended Church of Christ, where he was baptized. He enjoyed baseball and pitched for Correctionville, Cushing, lowa, Sioux City and other communities. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and reading.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol and her husband, Allen Sobieski, of Correctionville; two sons, Gary and Mike and his wife, Bonnie, all of Correctionville; a sister, Thelma and her husband, Titus Schau, of Battle Creek, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Michael Sobieski, Monica Miller, Bobbi Jo Heath, Julie Hummel, Rick Heath, Mark McCrea and Nick Heath; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Raymond. and two grandchildren, Shawn McCrea and Sheila Vaughn.
