Glenn Clifford Ashmore, 84, of Sioux City, formerly of Correctionville, Iowa, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Consorcia A. Sanchez officiating.

Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mr. Ashmore was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Correctionville, the son of Clifford and Belva (Downy) Ashmore. He attended country school for one year, then Grand Meadows Consolidated Schools. He graduated from Correctionville High School in 1932.

He served in the Armed Forces for 39 months.

He married Mabel Lidman on Dec. 30, 1940, in Dakota City. She died in 1980.

He married Bertha Robinson in 1981 in Las Vegas. She died in 1997.

Mr. Ashmore was employed with Sears for seven years. He owned and operated a grocery store in Sioux City for two years. He then worked as a salesman with American Gear for 23 years until retiring. Following his retirement he was employed with the city of South Sioux City for 10 years.

He enjoyed fishing And playing cards.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Jerry and Anna of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters and their husbands, Janelle and Jim Fisher of Wine, Iowa, and Janette and Dick Gruber of Pocahontas, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Scott, Jarod, Robbin, Anjanette, Krystal and Laura Ashmore, Stacie, Amy, Jenny and Nicole Gruber, Marcie Steiner, April Fidwell and Vikki and Jason Fisher; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Wilima Reed of San Bruno, Calif., and Carol Cunningham and her husband, Joe, and Arlene Pollemeyer, all of Correctionville.

He was preceded in death by a Mother, Dale, and a sister, Dorothy McKenna.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Bridwell,Won Fisher, Scott Steiner and Scott, Joe and Jarod Ashmore
