SIOUX CITY--Charlotte E. Held, 87 of Sioux City, IA passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at a local hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday with the family present 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Charlotte was born November 29, 1924 in Sioux City, IA. She grew up in the Morningside area and graduated from East High School. She then attended Morningside College where she met her future husband, Robert L. Held. They were married on March 12, 1947 in Elk Point, SD. He died Sept. 6, 1995 in Sioux City.

Charlotte was a devoted homemaker raising her six children. In later years she worked as the church secretary for 19 years at First United Methodist. Prior to that she worked for R Cards and Gifts at the Sunset Plaza and for Bolster’s Florist in Hawarden.

She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. When her children were young she loved sewing clothes for them. Charlotte was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir, the ladies circles and UMW. She was a member of PEO Chapter IL.

Survivors include her 6 children and their spouses, Nanette and William Thompson of Cottage Grove, MN and their 2 children Cory (Kristine) and Chad; Lynette and Roger Koppen of Jefferson, IA and their 3 children, Shannon (Todd), Wendy (Adam) and Allison (Gabe); Bobette and Robert Anderson of Alcester, SD and their 2 children, Susie (Jeff) and Kate (Lane); Jill and Jon Lowman of Ames, IA and their 4 children, Chris (Sara), Robin, Staci and Heather (Kyle); John and Jill Held of Denison, IA and their 2 children, Brooke and Summer; Amy and Eric Berntson of Sioux City and their 3 children, Sara, Emily and Bobby; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; a sister, Doris Hintz of Urbandale, IA; a sister-in-law, Corrie Kingsbury of Sugarland, TX; nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, ‘Muffin’.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her mother, Florence (Montgomery) Kingsbury, 2 brothers, Warren and John and his wife, Celine, a sister, Nancy Stover, and 1 brother-in-law, Roger Hintz.

Pallbearers will be John Ackerman, Clifford Garvey, Lonnie Gustafson, Don Harsted, Mike Morin, Robert Swanson, and David VanBerkum.
