Services for Clarence Voas held on Friday

Clarence R. "Dick" Voas, 91, of Moville died Monday, December 11, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2000 at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial was in Arlington Township Cemetery under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Eric Hanson, soloist sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden." Betty Rhue was organist.

Casketbearers were grandchildren: Kyle, Kory and Carolee Ellerbeck, Jeffrey Voas, Michael and Lisa Mueller. Honorary casket-bearer's were Roger Bernhardt, Jim Utesch, Ray Clause, Gene Wink, Leonard Peterson, Howard McLarnan, Dwight Haskins and Darold Miller.

Mr. Voas was born December 5, 1909, in Hitchcock, S.D.; the son of Frank L. and Pearl E. (Barger) Voas. He attended rural school and graduated from Hitchcock High School. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, for two years.

He married Catherine Vollenweider on May 23, 1935. The couple lived in Torrington, Wyoming from 1940 to 1944, then Morrill, Nebraska, from 1944 to 1945. They then moved to the Lawton, Iowa and Moville area in 1945. He farmed and was employed with Miller Motor Co. for 24 years, until retiring. Following his retirement, he did carpenter work for Howard McLarnan.

He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Donald and Nancy of Loveland, Ohio, and Dwaine and Vadis of Lakeville, Minnestoa; two daughters, Marjorie and her husband the Rev. Clifton Ellerbeck of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Mildred Mueller of Lomita, California; a sister, Pearl McGuire of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Smith; and two brothers, Joyce and William.
