John "Jack" Collins Jr., 1929-2012

SIOUX CITY | John "Jack" Collins Jr., 82, formerly of Sioux City passed from this world on Oct. 22, 2012, in Springfield, Mo.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m Friday at the funeral home.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1929, in Minneapolis, to John and Cecelia Collins. He was a leader in the community and was always willing to help others. Jack had been an entrepreneur since 1955, when he started an industrial catering service in Sioux City. Jolly John’s Industrial Catering ran from 1955 to 1972, and at one time, included a 24/7 diner called the Holiday.

Jack will be remembered by his many family and friends, including his wife, Darlene; sister, Mary; his sister-in-law, Meryldine; his four children, Linda Mieras and her husband, Larry, Pam Hansen, Michelle Whitlock, and Gary Collins. He is also survived and loved by his 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Frank and Charlie Collins.
