SIOUX CITY | Frances M Hefner, 95, of Sioux City died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. Frances was born in Lawton, Iowa, on June 21, 1917, the daughter of Frank and Martha Mary (Stebner) Hefner. She graduated from Lawton schools and attended Briar Cliff College for a period of time. Frances worked for several years at St. Joseph Hospital, she then became a medical assistant in the office of Dr. George Spellman. She then worked at a local uniform shop.

Following her retirement, Frances volunteered at Trinity Heights as a greeter for 10 years. Frances was a faithful member of the Catholic church. She recited the rosary on a daily basis and attended Mass also on a daily basis. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Frances was the loving owner of Mitzi and Fido. She received the nickname G.G. by her grandnieces and nephews.

She is survived by her nephew, Don Zenor and his wife, Monda of Lawton; her niece, Judy Zenor of Tacoma, Wash.; grandniece, Barbara Bowman of Kingsley, Iowa; and grandnephews, Martin and Martha Zenor of Boca Raton, Fla., and Michael and Kim Zenor of Deerfield, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucille Zenor; brother-in-law, Chet Zenor; and grandnephew, Mark Bowman.

The family requests memorials in her name be made to Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
