SIOUX CITY | Nellie Mae Herbst, 87, of Byhalia, Miss., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sept. 16, 2012, at Trinity Hospice in Collierville, Tenn.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, Miss.

Nellie was born May 23, 1925 in Elk Point, S.D., to Charles and and Leila (Gardner) Talbott.

She married Edward Herbst on May 9, 1949. The couple was married for 50 years. Edward died in 1999 in Sioux City.

Survivors include a daughter, Laura (William) Hudson; four sons, William (Kandy) Cook, Larry (Marlene) Herbst, James (Linda) Herbst and Richard Herbst; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three brothers, Orville (Pat) Talbott, Kendall (Fannie) Talbott and Lewis (Theresa) Talbott; and a sister, Grace Brewer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Herb Talbott; and a grandson, Jason Herbst.
