Betty J. Carver, 77, of Sioux City died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Betty was born on May 13, 1935, in St. Maries, Idaho, the daughter of Glenn and Lillian Harvey. She grew up and attended school in Idaho.

Betty married Clarence Carver on Dec. 21, 1951, in Wallace, Idaho. They made their home in Idaho before moving to Sioux City in the early 1970s. Betty worked at Zenith and later at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center from which she retired.

Betty loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed country music, dancing, traveling, camping, casinos, John Wayne, and all of her dogs over the years. She will be missed by her dog, Penny.

Survivors include three sons, Clarence and Thelma Carver of Sioux City, Stanley and Patricia Carver of Bronson, Iowa, and Wesley Carver of Spokane, Wash.; three daughters, Susan and Larry Rubida of Sioux City, Sandra and Michael Martin of Sioux City, and Donna Studley of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Doug and Velour Harvey of Tekoa, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; daughter, Sherry Ann; granddaughter, DeAnna Studley; a sister; and three brothers.
