Elsie D. Dose, 85, of Anthon died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Leland Schmidt and Rev. Ben Dose officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Elsie Dose was born Nov. 12, 1925, on a farm near Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Emma (Wunsche) Thul. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa. She went to country school near Danbury and attended high school at Mapleton.

On June 21, 1948, Elsie married John Dose, Jr. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. After their marriage, John and Elsie lived on a farm east of Anthon. They farmed for more than 50 years and were blessed with seven children. John died on April 11, 1998. Elsie moved into the town of Anthon in 2000.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Anthon and also belonged to the L.W.M.L., where she enjoyed quilting. She volunteered her time at the church changing the altar paraments according to the church year and caring for the communion wear after services. Elsie enjoyed living on the farm, taking care of animals and farm life in general. She really loved her friends and family especially her many grandchildren. Her family was the joy of her life.

Survivors include her seven children, Marjorie Lynch and her husband, Charlie of Omaha, David Dose and his wife, Donna of Storm Lake, Iowa, Donald Dose and his wife, Janice of Everly, Iowa, Sally Geisinger and her husband, Harold of Storm Lake, Andy Dose and his wife, Joleen of Danbury, Lisa Dose and Dennis Rohlk of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Karen Wulf and her husband, Russ of Danbury; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandchild, Noah Dose; six brothers and one sister, Emil, Halmut, Otto, Henry, Harry, George, and Agnes.
