Dorothy J. Frisbie, 81, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at a local hospital.

Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Ferguson Cemetery, Lake View, Iowa. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Wall Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Nellie (Auen) Leitz. She graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1948. Dorothy attended Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1953. On Sept. 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to David F. Frisbie. She worked at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center for 11 years, followed by 23 years at Sunrise Manor.

She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, participating in Lamplighters, Altar Guild, and many other activities.

Survivors include her husband, David; daughter, Sherri Frisbie of Omaha; son, David Frisbie of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Leroy and James and his wife, Phyllis, all of Lake View; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Don and Kenneth Leitz; and sisters, Katherine Meister, Joan Robinson, and Maxine Fanning.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Dorothy's name to the Arthritis Foundation.
