Florene K. "Flo" Owings, 66, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Greg Hanneman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Florene, the daughter of Floyd and Julia (Roland) Williams, was born on March 24, 1946, in Marysville, Kan. Prior to attending college, she drove truck for Hagan Trucking for two years. She graduated from Briar Cliff College in 1992 with a master's degree in sociology.

She was married to Fred Paul for 15 years. She was later married to John Owings on Dec. 24, 1992, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Flo worked for Community Action Agency for 10 years and Siouxland Mental Health for seven years. She was currently working part time at Shesler Hall.

She enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting archery and playing games.

Florene is survived by her husband, John of Sioux City; a son, Fred (Rae) Renzelman of Omaha; two stepsons, Mike Owings of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and George (Emily) Owings of Sioux City; three daughters, Theresa (Brad) Keuck of Sioux City, Maggie Renzelman of Sioux City, and Colleen McCallister of Salix, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Morrie (Wally) Doss of Omaha; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; six stepgrandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.
