Geraldine Marie Moles Madden, 94, of Sioux City passed away Friday, April 27, 2012.

Memorial services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Torey Lightcap officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Geraldine, also known as Gerry, Deed and Aunt Dede to her friends and family, was born in Wessington Springs, S.D., on April 2, 1918, the eldest daughter of Earl and Selma (Lindgren) Moles. When Gerry was 2 years old, the family moved to Sioux City, where she had lived for the last 92 years. She graduated from Central High School and attended Briar Cliff College and the Sioux City School of Business. She worked as a secretary to the manager of the Sioux City Auditorium.

On April 25, 1953, she married Russell Madden. They were happily married until his passing in 1992. They were working partners in Russell Madden Realty and active members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Gerry enjoyed reading, knitting and people. She was a member of the St. Thomas Altar Guild and volunteered at the cancer center. At the time of her death, she was managing her own home, entertaining her neighbors for (almost) nightly happy hours and possessed a driver's license with no restrictions. She was an inspiration and a lesson in how to live old age well to all who knew her.

She is survived by her niece, Nancy (Al) Shirah of Big Canoe, Ga.; her nephew, Tom (Lisa) Wolf of Sarasota, Fla.; and numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Florence Moles Wolf; and a brother-in-law, Richard Wolf.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Thomas Community Garden.
