Arthur Franklin Johns, 74, of Burlington, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died April 23, 2012, at his home.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, Iowa. Visitation will follow the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Akron. Condolences can be sent online to www.hassthielen.com.

Born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Sioux City, he was the son of Linus Franklin and Ethel Marie Armstrong Johns. On Sept. 8, 1981, he married Kathleen Marie Henrich.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; four sons, Bradley (Lori) Johns of Sioux City, Donald (Joann) Hoffman of Akron, Richard (Janet) Hoffman of Homer, Neb., and Jim (Roxanne) Hoffman of Westfield, Iowa; three daughters, Carla (Adam Hall) Johns of Norfolk, Neb., Irene Hoffman of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Sharon (Scott) Anliker of Mediapolis, Iowa; two brothers, Vern (Lori) Johns of Rapid City, S.D., and Mike (Pat) Archer of Sioux City; two sisters, Judy Mae (Gary) Blair of Allen, Neb., and Sandy (Bob) Dodds of Sioux City; two stepbrothers, Bob Archer and Phil Archer, both of Montana; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; special son, Larry (Teresa) Buck of Burlington; mother-in-law, Amelia Henrich of Akron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Da Nel Blunck; two brothers, Guy Johns and George Daniel Archer; one sister, Geraldine Wilson; his grandmother; and father-in-law.
