Stuart "Stu" Preston, 62, of Sioux City died Monday, Feb. 12, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

A celebration of life service will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elk's Club, 1001 Tri View Ave., in Sioux City. At his request, the body was cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Stuart was born Aug. 18, 1949, in Sioux City, to Harry and Nellie (Lowry) Preston. He lived in Riverside during most of his childhood and attended the Sioux City Barber College.

Stuart married Theresa Coy and to this union his daughter, Cistina, was born. The couple later divorced. Stuart later married Lisa Sembach on July 27, 1993. Their daughter, Kailey, was born to this union. Stuart was self-employed at Northside Barbers in Sioux City.

He was very active in his profession and belonged to several professional organizations. He considered his customers his friends. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City and participated on several committees and was an usher.

Stuart loved to golf and was a member at Hidden Acres. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge. He played in the Elks' Monday night league and the Hidden Acres Tuesday night league. If it was above freezing, he could be found on the golf course. He enjoyed watching football, basketball and hockey and was looking forward to purchasing season tickets for Creighton basketball in the fall, when Kailey starts college there. Stuart and Lisa were host parents for the Musketeers for many years, and he loved following the boys long after their days in Sioux City. He enjoyed karaoke and time with his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa; their daughter, Kailey at home; his "hockey sons," Brad Pick, Clay LaBrosse, Travis Turnbull and Sean Coffey; his daughter, Cistina of Sioux City; brothers, Jeff (Kerry) and Mike (Mary) of Sioux City, and Joe of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister, Janel of Sioux City; father- and mother-in-law, Leonard and Susan Sembach of Sioux City; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Stuart was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Andy; and his beloved dog, Gabby, who passed away while he was hospitalized.

Stuart's family would like to thank all of their friends for their prayers and support during this very difficult time.

Memorials may be directed to his family.
