Linda L. King, 64, of Sioux City passed away June 10, 2012, at a local hospital following a courageous battle with cancer (and still smoking, haha!). Linda was nicknamed "Fooch" by her kids, to everyone else she was "Just Linda." As for the last name King, Mang, McPherson, Hanifan, no comment.

Join us for the celebration of her life and her beloved dog, Woodrow 10:30 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. Following the service, there will be a luncheon.

Linda wrote her own obituary, so she would like all of you to bear with her.

Linda was born on April 23, 1948, in Sioux City. Linda was very independent and took charge of her life. Basically, through life's ups and downs, she became a more self-confident and stronger woman. She did things her way. Anyone that knew Linda has stories to tell.

She collected jewelry, handbags and shoes and enjoyed giving these things to her friends and family. Her hobby was target shooting with her Ruger.

The one true love of her life was her dog, Woodrow. He was by her side for 11 faithful years and when he died on March 8, 2011, a big piece of her heart went with him. He will be next to her in his urn at the funeral. To all that knew Linda and her love for animals, she would like memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, made to the Siouxland Humane Society or to the family.

Those left to honor her memory include her three children who were her treasures and her life, Tami L. Lawley, John-John McPherson II, and Buffey Marie; her three beautiful grandchildren, her angels, Tabatha, Kian and Isabelle Lawley; three brothers, Mike, Tom and Mark Hanifan; and her mother, Patricia Hanifan.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary and Patti; and her beloved St. Bernard, Woodrow.

Linda and the family would like to thank Linda's guardian angels, Leigh Ann from Hospice, Dr. Ross Bacon and nurse Stacy. Words cannot express all of the caring and compassionate things you have done for Linda.
