Gary "Sam" Sulsberger, 44, of Holly Springs died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, due to injuries received in a semi-truck accident.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Paul Mahaffie officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the funeral home.

Gary Martin Sulsberger was born Feb. 6, 1967 in Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of Gary and Sheryl (Worrell) Sulsberger. He was raised in rural Holly Springs and graduated from Westwood High School in the class of 1985. He spent time working on the farm and enjoyed driving truck for several companies. Presently he was driving for KVLZ Trucking at Climbing Hill, Iowa.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church in German City. Gary loved life and being with his friends. He enjoyed stock car racing, bull riding and fishing.

Survivors include his parents, Gary and Bernie Sulsberger of Holly Springs; his mother, Sheryl Ratliff of Elkhorn, Neb.; two brothers, Wade Sulsberger of Smithland, Iowa, and Darrin Sulsberger of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Stephanie Sulsberger and her companion Joe Guthridge of Moville, Iowa; two nieces, Emberlynn Guthridge of Moville and Leah Sulsberger of Chandler, Ariz.; a nephew, Garret Sulsberger of Nebraska City, Neb.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Leah Sulsberger and Art and Mollie Worrell.
