Philip James LaCroix, 93, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away June 20, 2012, at a care facility in Omaha.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Craig Collison of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Philip was born on July 8, 1918 in Salix, Iowa. He later moved to Jefferson, S.D., where he grew up, attended school and graduated. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II at Normandy from Jan. 23, 1942 until Oct. 12, 1945. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Battle Star, two Overseas Service Bars and one Service Stripe Good Conduct Medal.

Philip was employed with Braniff Airlines in Chicago and moved to Sergeant Bluff in 1965. He was employed with Wilbur Vault Company in Sergeant Bluff and then also with the city of Sioux City for 20 years. Philip remained in the Sergeant Bluff area until 2008, when he moved to Omaha.

He was of the Catholic faith. Philip was a 66-year member of the Sergeant Bluff American Legion Post 662 and was also a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends.

Survivors include Ginger and Chuck Lesher of Minnesota, Philip LaCroix Jr. of Minnesota, Shari and Tom Pease of Sioux City, Mike and Carrie LaCroix of South Sioux City, and Diane and Rob Larson of Omaha; a daughter-in-law, Lynda LaCrois of Carter Lake, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his spouse; one son; one grandchild; six sisters; and six brothers.
