Helen J. Jansen, 75, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012, surrounded by her family and loved ones at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Randall Knuth officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Helen was born on Oct. 8, 1936 in South Sioux City, to Edwin Earl and Dorothy (DeJong) Davis. She graduated from South Sioux City High School. In her later years, she worked in the retail business as an assistant manager at Preds and Sunshine stores. She spent the majority of her life raising her three children, being a mother and grandmother. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Duane “Mick” Jansen on March 3, 1962 in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1990 in Omaha, Neb.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, taking car rides, playing with her grandchildren and above all else, making time for her family. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Helen is survived by her three children, a son, Terry L. (Kathy) Cadwell of South Sioux City and two daughters, Dorothy “Dottie” Cadwell of Blair, Neb., and Mickie Jane (Mark) Burke of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Becky (Ardell) Banta, Brett Burke and Kyle Burke and his fiancée Mollie Ostrihonsky; three great-grandchildren, Josie Cadwell, Blake Banta and Jacob Banta; and two sisters, Betty Benscoter of Wayne, Neb., and Edna Martinsen of South Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Harry Davis; and two sisters, Winifred Napp and Evelyn Jenkins.
