Services Held at Ryan, Iowa For Mary Crowley

Mary Ellen Crowley, daughter of Mary Ellen (Holmberg) and Michael O'Brien was born on Feb, 21, 1884 at Garryowen, Iowa. She was married to Edward Crowley, on Nov. 23, 1910 at Sands Spring, Iowa. After marriage they farmed in the Delhi and Ryan areas. In 1966 they moved to Danbury. Mr. Crowley died Dec. 19, 1969. Mrs. Crowley had been a resident at the Willow Dale Nursing Home at Battle Creek for the past 2 years.

She a was a rural school teacher around Sands Spring and a housewife. She was a member of St. Patricks Church in Ryan and St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rosary Society in Danbury. She died on Thursday, April 15, 1976 after reaching
the age of 92 years 1 month and 24 days.

Rosary was held Friday, April 16 at 8:00 p.m. in the Walter Chapel with Father Thiele officiating and at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Shelly Funeral Home at Manchester, Iowa.

Services were held on Monday, April 19, 1976 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Ryan, Iowa with Rev. Matthew Beelner the pastor, Rev. L. J. McDonough a former pupil, and Rev. J. T. Gannon, a nephew concelebrating. The Mr. Michael Brenner, a grandson, was the lector.

Casket bearers were Phil Short, Dr. John O'Brien, Terry Crowley, John O'Connor,
Edward Gannon, Robert Gannon all nephews of Mrs. Crowley. Survivors include 2 daughters; Mrs. Martin (Mary Ellen) Leahy of Danbury and Mrs. Delores Brenner of Mapleton; 1 son, Raymond Crowley of Anamosa, Iowa 6 grandchildren,
5 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Wm, (Julia) Gannon of Farmington, Minn, and 2 brothers, Dennis O'Brien of San Jose, California and Dr. M. L. O'Brien of Sun City, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, '2 daughters, parents, 1 brother, 4 sisters and 2 grandchildren.
