SIOUX CITY -- Ralph Joseph Myers, 90, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Ralph was born June 25, 1921, in South Sioux City. He was raised in South Sioux City. He attended Trinity High School and Trinity College in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to the service, he lived in Washington, D.C., and worked for the FBI.

He married Mary Kennedy on Sept. 4, 1946, in Le Mars, Iowa. The family moved to Sioux City in 1960.

Ralph worked for Sioux City Tent and Awning Co., and then for Gerkin Windows as the sales manager. He worked there for 25 years, retiring in 1986.

He was former member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and belonged to St. Michael's Catholic Church in Leeds. He did volunteer work at church and at Queen of Peace. The most important part of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and playing golf, and took great pride in his yard.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; his children, Pat (Lori) Myers of Omaha, Neb., Mary Myers of Sioux City, Trish (Dave) Sevier of Rochester, N.Y., Mike Myers of Ames, Iowa, Tim (Karen) Myers of Houston, Texas, Jean Snyders of Sioux Falls, S.D., Dan (Ann) Myers of Sioux City and Kathy Keane of Sioux City; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack (Irene) Myers of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and a sister, Ramona Eagen.

A memorial has been established in his name for Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
