SIOUX CITY -- Wallace Mulder, 82, of Foley, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Foley Nursing Center.

Services will be noon Monday at Foley Funeral Home Chapel in Foley. The Deacon Fred Reker will officiate. Burial will be in Ronneby Riverside Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Foley American Legion Post 298. Visitation will be 4 to 7 Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will resume 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Wallace Mulder was born March 14, 1929, in Elkton, S.D., to D.B. and Susan (Douma) Mulder. He married June Lundgren on July 28, 1949, in Pipestone, Minn. The couple lived in Bryant, S.D., Sioux City, Denver, Colo., DeSmet, S.D., and Worthington, Minn., before moving to the St. Cloud, Minn., area in 1967. They then moved to rural Foley in 1969. Wallace worked for the USDA as a meat inspector from 1966 until his retirement in 1995. Wallace's job as a meat inspector brought him to many places and towns, where he met and became friends with many people.

Wallace enjoyed farming, playing cards and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, June of Foley; son and daughter, Rex of Foley, and Sandie (Gary) Plafcan of Foley; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi (Larry) Janssen of DeSmet, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Delano, Dudley, William and Ervin.
