SIOUX CITY -- Marianne C. Jochum, 65, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 4, 2012, at her home from natural causes.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Marianne was born on Aug. 5, 1946, in Granville, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Hilda (Harens) Kreber. She grew up in Granville and graduated from Granville-Spalding High School. In 1967, she graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing.

On Oct. 12, 1968, she married William "Bill" P. Jochum in Granville. Marianne worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, which became Marian Health Center and then Mercy Medical Center, where she retired in 1998. After her retirement, she started Precious Tykes Daycare in her home.

Marianne was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Michael Parish, the ladies church circle and the prayer chain.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; five children, Thomas Jochum and his wife, Theresa of Sergeant Bluff, Brian Jochum of Sioux City, Paula Wright and her husband, Michael of McCook Lake, S.D., Jeffrey Jochum of Sioux City, and Jennifer Barber and her husband, Rex of Sioux City; six siblings, Eileen (Jim) Snodgrass of Des Moines, Marge Jarnell of Sioux City, Don (Marci) Kreber of Paullina, Iowa, Kathy (Bruce) Grimberg of Sioux City, Ken (Barb) Kreber of Sioux City, and Alan (Donna) Kreber of Granville; 14 grandchildren, Anna and Andrew Jochum, Bryan and Alyssa Sohler, Morgan, Noah and Jonah Jochum, Braeden, Keaten and Colten Wright, Kaitlyn and Nyla Jochum, and Allison and Ethan Barber; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Honor guard will be the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. Pallbearers will be Chris Kreber, Kelly Kreber, Greg Jochum, Brad Jochum, Adam Kreber and Kevin Kreber.
