LAWTON, Iowa -- Roy Earl Johnson passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa. Local arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Roy was born on Nov. 11, 1928, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Mahaska County, to Effie Jane (McFall) Johnson.

Roy was a loving father, grandfather and an outgoing vibrant man. There was not a stranger he met. The people he met and the world around are better for knowing Roy.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Patty Johnson of Granbury, Texas; his sister, Doris Davis (Charles) from Oskaloosa, Iowa; his stepsons, Kirk Price of St. Louis, Mo., and Todd Price (Beverly), of Oklahoma City; stepdaughter, Kim Jones (Price) (Austin) of Grinnell, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Michael Hecker (Lynda) of Houston, Texas, Jill Noble (Eric) of Flower Mound, Texas, Alyson and Miranda Jones of Grinnell, Kelsey of Wellman, Iowa, Kyle Price of Minneapolis, and Kirby Price of Moorehead; and four great-grandchildren, Shelby and Rebecca Hecker of Houston, and Brooke and Kendall Noble of Flower Mound.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; mother, Effie; and his brother, Ivan.
