SIOUX CITY -- Jennifer Bliss Clancy, 25, of Sioux City, formerly of Gales Ferry, Conn., passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital after suffering a massive seizure.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Jennifer was born on Jan. 18, 1987, at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Neb. She was adopted at four days old by Paul and Yevette Clancy. Jennifer grew up mostly in Connecticut and graduated from Ledyard High School in Ledyard, Conn., in 2006. After high school, she worked at Candy's Cozy Kitchen through Seabird Enterprises in New London, Conn. She relocated to Sioux City in the summer of 2009 and had worked at Mid-Step Services Work Center since. In 2011, Jennifer moved into Mid-Step's Independent Living, where she blossomed into a vibrant young woman.

Jennifer adored her family, treasured all her friends and brought joy to everyone that she encountered. She had a strong faith in God and was Jesus' little helper. She was a gifted artist and loved to dance, play music, cared deeply for all animals, enjoyed fishing, and loved her guinea pig, Dillion and her Green Bay Packers. She participated in Special Olympics and had qualified to compete in the state finals later this month. Jennifer lived on through the contribution of her organs and tissues to the Iowa Donor Network.

Survivors include her mother, Yevette Lehn and her husband, James of Gales Ferry, Conn.; her father, Paul Clancy and his wife, Aimee Washburn Clancy of Sioux City; maternal grandmother, Althernease Gamble of Pompano Beach, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Maclyn and Madonna Clancy of Sioux City; paternal stepgrandmother, Ann Washburn of Sioux City; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and her special friend, Ethan Robinson of Gales Ferry.

She was preceded in death by her uncle, Brian Clancy; paternal stepgrandfather, Dr. Joseph Washburn; her guinea pig, Trevor; her dogs, Petey, Bono, and Clyde; her hamsters, Zippidy, Peewee, and Goober; and her gold fish, George.

Pallbearers will be Paul Clancy, James Lehn, Curtis Fields, Simon Slechta, John Clancy, Greg Clancy, and Miki Slechta.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Special Olympics.
