William D. "Bill" Dufault 1925-2012

SIOUX CITY | William D. "Bill" Dufault a resident of Sunrise Care Center in Sioux City passed away peacefully Sunday, May 13, 2012, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.

Bill was born on July 13, 1925, in Argyle, Minn., where he was raised and received his education.

He was united in marriage to Evangeline Kordahl in Grand Forks, N.D. They raised their family in this area, also residing in Buxton, N.D., and Egan, S.D., before finally moving to Worthington, Minn. While living in Worthington, Bill was employed at the Campbell Soup Co. until his retirement. In 2007, he moved to Sioux City to be closer to family due to ailing health.

Bill was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt with his son and friends. He was a great dad and a wonderful grandfather. Nieces and nephews loved their Uncle Bill. In his latter years, he enjoyed playing cards and bingo with his many friends. Bill was loved by many for his great attitude and love for his fellow man. Bill was a good man. We will all miss him so very much.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Askelson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dennis (Tanya Kontz) of Sioux City; his grandchildren, Darin Chamberlain of Cedar Rapids, Ron Askelson of Auburn, Ala., Micha Askelson of Indianapolis, Ind., Jon Askelson of Bardstown, Ky., and Danielle Landuyt of Sioux City; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Audrey Dufault (Russell Dufault), Carl Haugen (Angel Dufault), Ruth Olson, Elderid and Harold Everly (sisters of Eva).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva; a son, Jon Dufault; a grandson, Chad Dufault; six siblings; and his parents, Henry and Laura (Bacon) Dufault.
