Nick was born on Aug. 16, 1945, in Denison, Iowa, prior to relocating to Sioux City. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Ann Suffield on July 13, 1968. They were both honored as homecoming king and queen at Riverside High School.

Nick was employed with I.P.S., now Mid American Energy, for 42 years in the computer scheduling department before retiring in the spring of 2009. Nick was involved in youth coaching for several years in football and baseball and developed long-standing relationships with several area high school athletes. He had a passion for Iowa Hawkeye athletics and enjoyed his fall football Saturdays with his wife, Margaret. Nick loved the game of golf and used that as a venue for friendship with what he called his “Boyz” that he golfed and played cards with each Saturday. He took pride in his beautiful marriage with his best friend, Margaret and the successes of his children, Martin, Michelle and Mark. He was very proud of each of their accomplishments.

Most important to Nick was his obligation to his seven grandchildren, Mackenzie, Peyton, Josie, Jackson, Nicholas, Spencer and Ian. He shared a special bond with Mackenzie, Peyton and Josie, who he had frequent contact with and beamed with happiness when he spoke or spent time with them.

Nick is survived by his wife, Margaret of Sioux City; two sons, Martin and Amie Millard of Sioux City, and Mark and Dee Dee Millard of Sioux City; one daughter, Michelle and Rob Davis of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Duke and Judy Millard of Dumas, Texas, and Short and Fred Millard of Augusta, Ga.; sister-in-laws, Barb and Ben “Oris” Glass of Valley, Neb., and Mel Lundgren and her special friend, Patrick Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Nick is now reunited with his parents, Dale and Marcella Millard and his brother, Hez Millard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nick's "Boyz," Ron Jordan, Wes Bowers, Jerry Comes, Larry Locke, Gary and Larry Roan, Tom Elgert, John Fitch, Pat Lyon and Rob McClary.

The family expresses their gratitude to Hospice of Siouxland for their special care.
