SIOUX CITY | Jill Susan (Schneckloth) Dake of Sioux City passed away peacefully Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunnybrook Community Church, with Jeff Ream officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.

Jill was born on Sept. 11, 1950, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Betty (Davis) Schneckloth.

She was married to Ronald Dake on Aug. 2, 1969, in Davenport, Iowa. From this union, two sons, Troy Alan and Erik Thomas, were born. The family moved to Sioux City in 1979, where Jill remained after they divorced. During her 25 years in the real estate/mortgage business, Jill developed many close and lasting friendships. At the time of her death, she was employed by Premier Lending Alliance as a mortgage originator.

Jill followed a family tradition of caring for her friends, both two- and four-legged. She volunteered her time to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and local pet and wildlife rescue organizations. Jill lavished her attention on all of her pets, treating them as family. She enjoyed traveling, making many trips over the years to visit friends and family. Jill particularly loved spending time at the ocean.

Jill was a caring and giving mother, proud grandmother, loving sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She doted on her two grandsons and they enjoyed many adventures together.

Jill is survived by two sons, Troy and his wife, Kim, of Sioux City, and Erik and Chantannell, of Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Joyce Jentz of Bettendorf, Iowa, Jane Dake of Lantana, Fla., and Jan Van Dusen of Ft. Irwin, Calif.; one brother, James of Florida; two grandsons, Hunter and Carson Dake; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Sid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Betty; sister, Judy; and a niece, Amanda.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Wildlife Lodge and Clinic or Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue, both in Sioux City.
