SIOUX CITY | Johnny J. Cook, 53, of Sioux City died Friday, May 18, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital following a long-term illness.

A celebration of life services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences for the family may be made at www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Johnny was born on Dec. 31, 1958, in Tucson, Ariz., the son of Donald L. and Rose M. (White) Cook. He attended school until the eighth grade, when his disability would no longer allow him to attend.

He was united in marriage with Edna Hoagland on June 30, 1989, in Glendale, Ariz. He lived in Arizona and Sioux City the majority of his life.

Johnny enjoyed fishing, horses and watching western movies.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Edna of Sioux City; two brothers, Don Cook and his wife, Gaglynn of South Sioux City, and Tom Cook and his wife, Doreen of Lawton, Iowa; and one sister, Dianna Hardel and her husband, Mark of Dewey, Ariz.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Rose Cook; and a brother, Paul Cook.
