CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Belva Frances Markusen, 88, of Correctionville passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Correctionville, with the Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.nicklasedjensenfh.com.

Belva Frances Markusen was born on March 29, 1923, to Oscar and Cecelia (Walker) Markusen, in Correctionville. She graduated from Correctionville High School. Upon graduation, Belva worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company for 38 years.

Belva enjoyed singing and dancing, especially the jitterbug. She played the piano and organ. Belva also enjoyed cooking and traveling to the Black Hills.

Survivors include her beloved friend and soul mate of 68 years, Jack Peters of Anthon, Iowa; honorary sister-in-law, Anna Mae Lancaster of Anthon; honorary nieces, Martha Kaufman of Gilbert, Ariz., and Margie Lancaster of Anthon; and her cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
