Orval "Jim" Port Jr.

Orval "Jim" Port Jr., 62, Sioux City, died unexpectedly Tuesday, (Sept. 24, 1991) at Park Rapids, Minn.

Services were held Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic church. Rev. Donald Ries officiated. Burial was in Calvary cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Siouxland Marine Corps League, under direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Port was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Sioux City, the son of Orval and Isabel (Loetz) Port. He graduated from Central high school in 1947. He then farmed in Plymouth county. He married Grace M. Montagne May 21, 1955, in Jefferson, S.D. The couple lived hi Plymouth county until 1957 when they moved to Sioux City. He was employed by Wigman Co. for 34 years.

Mr. Port was a member of St. Boniface Catholic church. He was regional director for the National Mended Heart Association and was a past president and treasurer of the Sioux City chapter. In previous years he was a Cub Scout leader. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gregory of Littleton, Colo., Bradley of Denver, Colo., Douglas and his wife, Shelly of Washington, Iowa, and Michael of Omaha; a daughter, Michelle of Washington, Iowa; his mother, Isabel Port of Westfield, Iowa; two brothers, Theodore "Ted" of Westfield, Iowa, and Kenneth of Manchester, N.H.; a sister, Kathaleen Siebenborn of Bellevue, Neb.; and two grandsons, Trevor and Jakob.

He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Arnold.

Pallbearers were Daniel Siebenborn, Richard Port, Timothy and Breck Montagne, Donald Kramper, and John Dickes.
