Emily E. Vondrak

Emily Eileen Vondrak, 80, Le Mars, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1992 at her home.

Services were held Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Le Mars. The Rev. Dale J. George and Monsignor Richard V. Sweeny, a brother, officiated. Burial was in Calvary cemetery in Sioux City, under direction of the Fuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Vondrak was born Dec. 20, 1911, in rural Hinton, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Barrett) Sweeny. She was raised west of Hinton and attended Liberty Consolidated school. She graduated from Cathedral high school in Sioux City. She married Eugene Edward Vondrak, Nov. 30, 1935, at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Ellendale. The couple farmed west of Hinton. He died April 21, 1966, and she moved to Le Mars in 1970. Mrs. Vondrak was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, the church Guild, Christian Mother's Society and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include four daughters, Marlene Pridie and her husband, Robert of Akron, Mary Lou Harpenau of Remsen, Peggy Sitzmann and her husband, Allen of Le Mars, and Jane Muller and her husband, John of Paullina; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Peter Sweeny of Sioux Falls, and Monsignor Richard V. Sweeney of Sioux City.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Isadora Sweeney and Sister Mary Consolata, OSF; and seven brothers, Daniel, George, Paul, Jack, James, Al and Thomas.
