CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa - Alfred William "Bill" McCormick, 65, of Correctionville died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, Iowa, with the Rev. William A. Schreiber officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Correctionville. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil wake service at 7 p.m., at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mr. McCormick was born May 3, 1936, in Creighton, Neb., the son of Clem and Viola (Wentz) McCormick. He was raised by Clem and Evelyn McCormick. He married Sandra Jean Sargent on Oct. 31, 1958, in Anthon. They lived in California until 1962, when he moved to Danbury, where he was employed with Barry Motors. They moved to Correctionville in 1965, where he owned and operated M & M Skelly Service Station and later joined C.B. McCormick in McCormick Enterprises, which he purchased and operated as Mac's Radiator and Repair Service for more than 30 years until his health failed.

He was a member of the Correctionville Fire Department for 22 years and was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and Euchre.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jean McCormick and her friend, Steve McKay of Sioux City, and Connie and her husband, Don Haahr of Smithland, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Tim and Loretta of Correctionville, and Anthony and Sally of Cushing, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Chris Mitchell, Ryan Bahrke, Joey Brownmiller, Stacy McCormick, Lacey LaScala, Stephanie McCormick, Tyler Haahr, Tim (Bubba) McCormick and Krista McCormick; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Evelyn of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Larry McCormick, and Richard and his wife, Eva McCormick, all of California; six sisters, Pauline and her husband, Harley Miller of California, Shirley Slechta of Rockford, Ill., Delores and her husband, Ray Lee, Cecilia and her husband, Phil LeRoi, Julie and her husband, Tim Thompson, and Angela and her husband, Jimmy Fennessy, all of California; a sister-in-law, Rosalie McCormick of California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Greg; his birth parents, Clem and Viola; two brothers, Frank and Patrick; and a brother-in-law, Albert.
