CHEROKEE, Iowa -Luane R. Wiese, 52, of Appleton, Wis., formerly of Cherokee, died of cancer Monday, May 28, 2001, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Wayne Peach and Dr. Robert Peters officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Siouxland arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Wisconsin arrangements were under the direction of Wichmann Funeral Home in Appleton.

Mr. Wiese was born Oct. 31, 1948, in Cherokee, the son of Loran and Arleen (Mohr) Wiese. He married Vicki Sieger on Nov. 30, 1974.

He farmed in Iowa for several years. He then owned and managed a construction company before moving to Appleton in 1989. He was employed as a associate manager at Wickes Lumber and most recently worked as an estimator/project manager with SR Block Iron and Supply in Oshkosh, Wis.

He was a member of Ida County Fair board, Ida County Cattleman's and Pork Producer Association, Selective Service board, Walleyes for Tomorrow and Darboy Optimist Club. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Iowa and Christ the King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks, Wis. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Landon of Appleton; a brother and his wife, LaDon and Nancy of Schleswig, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Joylyn and Dr. Neil Rippke of Moville, Iowa; mother-in-law, Betty Sieger of Lawton; two brothers-in-law, David Butcher of Lawton and Donald Butcher and his wife, Susan of Le Mars, Iowa; a sister-in-law and her husband, Becky and Mickey Stilwell of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established.
