16 March 2011SIOUX CITY -- Judith 'Judy' A. Storms, 65, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen.
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Abiding by family wishes, a private graveside service will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Judy was born on May 10, 1945, in Sioux City to Emmett and Lucile (Sterling) White. She attended and graduated from Central High School before obtaining her degree from Morningside College, which she received with honors. Judy was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority while at Morningside College. She taught grade school in Sioux City and Waterloo before being a Senior Companion at Lutheran Social Services. Judy enjoyed being a cashier at Walmart for 14 years until her health started to decline.
Judy was a proud member of the Morningside Lutheran Church, where she also sang in the choir and enjoyed her membership with Rachel Circle. She was an avid recycler, loved her environment, and enjoyed taking walks and raising her cats. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at numerous senior housing facilities, she was always on the go, and kept everyone very busy.
Left to cherish her memory is her greatest joy in her life, her beloved son, Christopher Storms of Muscatine, Iowa, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Meierhenry of Omaha; beloved sisters, Karen and her husband Gary Lien and Patricia Wells; nieces, Ashley Wells, Lindsey Wells, and Courtney Wells; and nephews, Todd Lien and his wife, Leslie and their children, Carolyn and Sutherlyn, Kirk Lien and Jason Wells.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank the staff of Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Siouxland PACE, Hospice of Siouxland, and nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center for the wonderful care that they all gave during her illness and in her final days. Rest in peace with your angels.
