27 April 2011SIOUX CITY -- Mark F. Schneiders, 61, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at his residence following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Mark Schneiders was born Oct. 31, 1949, in Sioux City, the second oldest of 14 children of Robert and Jean (Lang) Schneiders. He attended St. Boniface School and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1968. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy for two years. He attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City. He was employed for a brief time with Swift and Company packing house in Sioux City.
He was a longtime resident of the Woodbury County Home in Sioux City. After the county home closed, he was a resident of Siouxland Residential Services until his death.
He enjoyed art, playing pool, hunting and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed people.
Mark is survived by seven sisters, Nancy Brubaker of Sioux City, Mary Gillis and her husband, John of Akron, Iowa, Carol Newell and her husband, Frank of Lincoln, Neb., Teresa Honer and her husband, Mark of Shawnee, Kan., Ann Carr and her husband, Greg of Vinita, Okla., Jean Schneiders of Sioux City, Sara Schneiders and her husband, Brad Thiel of North Liberty, Iowa; six brothers, Paul of Dixon, Neb., Brian of Primghar, Iowa, Jon and his wife, Rosina of Sioux City, Matt and his wife, Lori of Arlington, Wash., Robert and his wife, Sharron Hunter of Boulder, Colo., and Tom of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews; two grandnieces; and a grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo in infancy; and a nephew, Luke Schneiders.
