SIOUX CITY -- Barbara "Barb" J. Gothier, 81, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, Iowa, with the Rev. Brian Danner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Anthon. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 7 p.m. today, and a rosary service at 6:30 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Barbara Jane Gothier was born April 26, 1929, at Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of George and Mildred (Smith) Forch. She graduated from Anthon High School with the class of 1947. On Jan. 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Edward "Eddie" E. Gothier at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon. She worked at First Trust and Savings Bank at Anthon. In 1962, the family moved to Sioux City, where Barb first was employed with Laurence's Bakery and then the Court Street Pik 'N Pak. She later worked at First National Bank where she earned the position of head teller, retiring in 1994. Eddie died May 29, 1996.

Barb moved to Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton in 2006 and into Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City in November of 2010. Barb found satisfaction in sharing her special gift of cooking and baking with her family and those who loved her. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include three sons, Mark Gothier and his wife, Jennifer of Sioux City, Curt Gothier of Sloan, Iowa, and Scott Gothier and his wife, Becky, also of Sioux City; a daughter, Cheri Tripp and her husband, Todd of Sioux City; two brothers, Gerald Forch and his wife, Sally of Oto, Iowa, and Roger Forch of Moville, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Barb was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Danny Forch.
