SERGEANT BLUFF -- Sue Fletcher, 57, of Sergeant Bluff passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 20, 2011, from injuries sustained in an accident in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sergeant Bluff Community Center, Topaz Avenue and Highway 75 South, with Pastor Beryl Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the community center. Visitation will continue following the service during lunch and fellowship. Susan Frances Cunningham was born March 2, 1954, in Bismarck, N.D., the daughter of Clarence "Red" and Yvonne (Starkle) Cunningham. Early in her childhood, she and her family lived in several cities in the United States before settling in Sergeant Bluff. She attended school in Sergeant Bluff and graduated from Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School in 1972.

She was united in marriage to Dennis Fletcher on Feb. 2, 1974, in Akron. They lived in Sioux City for a short time before moving to Bronson, Iowa. In 1986, they moved to Sergeant Bluff.

For more than 30 years, Sue was a commercial accounts representative for a few local insurance agencies. She was employed at Arthur J. Gallagher Insurance Agency in Sioux City for the past several years.

Through the years, Sue has enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and her favorite driver, Clint Bowyer. Sue was a lifetime member of Wilson Workout. But most of all, she loved the times spent with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. Sue was best known for always putting the happiness of others before her own and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of more than 37 years, Dennis of Sergeant Bluff; her three children, Missy Kolar (Gene) of Sergeant Bluff and their children, Abby and Andy, Cam Fletcher (Megan) of Allen, Texas, and their son, Blake, and Sue's fourth grandchild expected in July, and Ashley Fletcher (Paul Wilson) of Sioux City; her sister, Lynn Knox (Dennis "Chief") of Conway, Ark.; two nephews, Chris Knox (Traci) of Conway, and Aaron Knox of Conway; and her father-in-law, Darcy Fletcher of Sergeant Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Phil and Julia Starkle; and her mother-in-law, Joy Fletcher.

Casketbearers will be Ed McLarty, Randy Amick, Bob Nordgren, Mark Nordgren, Aaron Knox and Jason Cleveland.

Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Home of Sioux City or Hospice of Siouxland.
