SIOUX CITY -- Lorraine M. Kneifl, 93, of Sioux City, formerly of Newcastle, Neb., passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Westwood Nursing & Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Newcastle. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a 4 p.m. rosary recited by Catholic Daughters of America, and a vigil service at 7 p.m., followed by a rosary service, all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Lorraine was born March 10, 1918, in Jackson, Neb., the daughter of George and Catherine (Beacom) Teller. She grew up in the Jackson and Waterbury, Neb., areas and attended country schools.

Lorraine married Richard Kneifl on Nov. 3, 1939, in Detroit, Mich. He died on Jan. 24, 1991, in Sioux City. Lorraine and Richard farmed in the Newcastle area until moving to Sioux City in 1957.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Her family was very important to her, and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Lorraine enjoyed dancing and baking cookies. She was a fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Survivors include four children, Barb Reinert and her husband, Jerry of Sioux City, Kay Gaudian and her husband, Ron of Bella Vista, Ark., Richard Kneifl and his wife, Lee Ann of Sioux City, and Mary LeMoine and her husband, Michael of Virginia Beach, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Mary and Clair; and a brother, Frank.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

The family would like to thank the staff at Westwood Nursing & Rehab and Jenn at Care Incentives Hospice for the excellent care given to Lorraine.
