Correctionville, Iowa—Ivan Earnest, 78, of Correctionville died Thursday, April 20, 1995, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville with the Rev. Elmer Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Lipton Township Cemetery in Danbury, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ernest was born November 11, 1916, near Smithland, Iowa, the son Willis And Loretta (Hunt) Earnest. He was a lifelong resident of the Danbury and Correctionville area. He married Ileta Chase Feb. 28, 1943, in Correctionville, and farmed in that area until retiring from farming in 1969. He then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College and worked at the Sunrise Manor for seven years, retiring in 1977.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Gary and Terry of Claremore, Okla.: two daughters, Mary and her husband, Gary Hunwardsen of Kingsley, Iowa, and Lynda Jacobsen of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandra Kay; four brothers, Merrill, Harold, Wilmer and Raymond; and a sister, Margaret.
