SIOUX CITY -- Garnett F. Porter, 77, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Burial will be at a later date.

Garnett was born July 17, 1933, in Akron, Iowa, to Phillip and Alice (Bean) Schutt. She graduated from Central High in Sioux City. Garnett married Paul Porter. He passed away in 1992.

She was a member of St. Joe's Catholic Church, was a senior companion, and an avid bingo player. Garnett loved to cook and crochet. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Marlin (Maria) Howley of Jacksonville, Fla., Merlin (Henrietta) Howley of North Sioux City, Michael Howley and his significant other, Chris of Sioux City, Mickey (Rhonda) Howley of Sioux City, Myron Howley and his significant other, Tanya of Sioux City, and Marla Francois and her significant other, John of Salix, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; niece, Frany Fairfield of Batesville, Ark.; nephew, Jim Peck of Cherokee, Iowa; and her bingo buddy, Esther.

Garnett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; two sisters; and one stepgrandson.
