SIOUX CITY -- Steven E. Walding, 59, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at the V.A. Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military graveside rites provided by the U.S. Air Force. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Steve was born May 4, 1951, in Sioux City, to Phillip and Virginia (Davis) Walding. He grew up in Sioux City and attended St. Joseph Grade School and Heelan High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He married Cecelia Bush in 1969. Steve had worked in the construction industry for many years.

He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Steve liked to box and ride motorcycles. He also enjoyed cooking and barbecuing.

Survivors include three children, Kimberly Walding of Sioux City, Steve Walding and his wife, Dawn of Le Mars, Iowa, and Kelly Walding of Sioux City; six brothers, Daniel Walding and his wife, Dee, Dave Walding, Phillip Walding and his wife, Bonnie, Mark Walding and his wife, Carol, Bill Walding and his wife, Laura, all of Sioux City, and Jeff Walding and his wife, Diane of Merrill, Iowa; three sisters, Diana McKenna of Colorado, Susan Campbell and her husband, Denny of Sioux City, and Lisa Grage and her husband, Joe of Sergeant Bluff; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
