SIOUX CITY -- Rosie "Mae" Stephens, 71, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at her home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Hagberg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be made online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Rosie Mae was born Nov. 25, 1939, in Sioux City, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Eastman) Ashcraft. She graduated from Central High School. On May 30, 1959, she married Robert L. Stephens. She was employed as a secretary at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and for Poss Chiropractic Clinic.

Mae loved her family and enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. She enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends. In earlier years she liked to travel. Mae was a longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Stephens Sr.; two sons, Robert Stephens Jr. (and Ann) and Ross Stephens and his wife, Jenny, all of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Brooke, Bryan, Brittany, Brady, Becca, Gage, Cooper, Jacob and Joshua "JJ"; a great-granddaughter, Kennedie; two sisters, Mildred "Millie" Graim and June Lowery, both of Sioux City; good friends, Denny and Helen Waldon and Cheryl Hamm, all of Sioux City; a brother-in-law and his wife, Bill and Sherol Stephens of James, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, LeAnn Stephens and Lila Solomon of Sioux City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thad Stephens; four grandchildren, Brieanna, Brayden, Bridget and Kaylee; six brothers, Thomas Ashcraft, Art Ashcraft Jr., Mike Ashcraft, Bob Ashcraft, Jim Hynes and John Hynes; and five sisters, Margaret Fursee, Marie Cole, Ann Hynes, Dorie Berens and Lucille Grenier.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Bryan Stephens, Brady Stephens, Gage Stephens, Jeff Berens, Bill Berens and Jim Nolen. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Lane, Scott Lane, Rick Ashcraft, Kenny Anderson, Enoch Graim, Chad Stephens, Chris Stephens, Greg Solomon and Jeff Lane.
