SIOUX CITY -- Nancy Rose Lensink, 91, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin 3 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Nancy was born on June 13, 1919, in Omaha, Neb., to Joseph and Josephine Ira. She graduated from South High School and Capitol Beauty School in Omaha.

She eloped to marry Leonard J. Lensink on Oct. 19, 1940, in Papillion, Neb. The couple made their home in Sioux City. Nancy owned and operated a beauty salon before the birth of her children. She was also a retail sales clerk for Kresge's for 12 years.

She was a member of the Ladies Guild at Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed luncheons with Kresge's retirees, baking and sewing for her family and attending family activities. Her Italian heritage was very important to her.

Survivors include daughters, Rhonda (Allen) Lorimor of Sioux City, and Marilyn (Steve) Kohles of Aberdeen, S.D.; sons, Leonard (Carol) Lensink Jr. and Donald (Tracy) Lensink, both of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Barb Lensink of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Rick, Sis, Jessica, Wendy, Ryan, Cody, Matt, Nick, Stephanie, Dawn and Bethany; seven great-grandchildren, Frankie, Linnet, Maddison, Jericho, Reese, Lucas and Andrew; one great-great-grandchild, Jay; two brothers and their spouses, Charles Ira and Fred Ira, all of Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard Sr.; son, George; infant daughter, Cynthia Jo; brother, Sam Ira; sisters, Melina Stockwell and Louise Jensen; and sister-in-law, Minerva Gartin. .
