21 January 2011SIOUX CITY -- Kristine H. "Kris" Sanders, 56, of Rapid City, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died at her home Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
It was Kris' desire to be cremated with no services at this time. Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign her online guestbook at www.kirkfuneralhome.com.
Kristine was born Aug. 18, 1954, in Sioux City, to LeRoy and Maxine (Blades) Sanders. After high school, she received her master's degree in systems engineering. Kris worked as project manager of construction projects for Fed-Ex in Indianapolis and Memphis. She moved to the Black Hills in 2000.
She was on the board of Diabetes Inc., member of MENSA, Intertel, Project Management Institute, Construction Specifications Institute, Black Hills Diabetes Association, and the Transplant Dialysis Support Group.
She is survived by her mother, Maxine Stepina of Rapid City; her brother, Steven (Katherine) Sanders of McCook Lake, S.D.; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, LeRoy Sanders; and her stepfather, Bernard Stepina.
A memorial has been established to the Kristine H. Sanders Scholarship Fund at South Dakota Community Foundation, P.O. Box 296, Pierre, S.D. 57501.
