DANBURY, Iowa -- Bernice M. Reimer, 94, of Danbury died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek, Iowa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury, with the Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in Danbury Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. conducted by the Rosary Society and a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary led by the family, at the church. Visitation resumes 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Armstrong Funeral Home of Danbury and Mapleton, Iowa, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Bernice Margaret (Boysen) Reimer was born Feb. 10, 1916, near Olin, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Bertha (Langschwager) Boysen. Bernice was from a family of one sister and one brother.

Bernice was united in marriage to Albert Reimer on Feb. 5, 1935. The couple farmed near Danbury until Albert passed away on Feb. 19, 1965. Bernice built a house and moved in to Danbury in 1965. Bernice worked at the public school as a cook, worked at the Dairy Queen, did housekeeping for the priest, and she cooked for the Danbury Community Club for several years.

Bernice enjoyed 30 years of farming with her husband Al, baking, crafts, embroidery, playing cards, gardening, socializing, and having coffee with her family and friends. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a big part of her life. Bernice was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and an active member of St. Mary's Rosary Society.

Bernice was a loving wife and mother of four children, Marilyn Boyle married to Robert Boyle, Paul Reimer married to Kay McCarthy, and Arlene Reimer, all of Danbury, and Lois Ekarius from Sealy, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Meier (Phil); one brother, Melvin Boysen; and one sister-in-law, Alice Boysen.

Along with her husband, Albert, Bernice was also preceded in death by an infant son; two sons-in-law, Robert Boyle and Marvin Ekarius; and her parents.
