SIOUX CITY -- Annamarie Larson Olsen, 92, of Clarion, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Dec. 15, 2010, at CareAge of Clarion following a month-long illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion, with the Rev. Ryan Lambert of Corvallis, Ore., officiating. There will be a light lunch served at St. John's Catholic Church to follow. Interment will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City.

Annamarie, the daughter of Oscar Jacob and Emma (Swanson) Larson, was born on July 9, 1918, in Sioux City. She graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1936 and Morningside College in 1940.

She was united in marriage to Walter Roy Olsen of Sioux City on June 2, 1941. Two children, daughter, Gale, and son, Gary, were born of the marriage. She resided in Sheldon, Iowa, Faribault, Minn., Sioux City and Spirit Lake, Iowa, prior to her move to Clarion in 2005.

She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and PEO. She served as a member and later president of the board of directors for the Sioux City Boys and Girls Home and was active in other church and civic organizations in Sioux City and Spirit Lake. She was a member of the Spirit Lake Methodist Church.

Being an avid sports fan, she closely followed the teams coached by her husband and son and enjoyed the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time with her family, reading, playing golf, watching mystery programs on TV, as well as watching the CG Cowboy baseball team from her porch view across from Hanson Park, were among her favorite pastimes.

She is survived by daughter, Gale of Kirkland, Wash.; a son, Gary (Carmen) of Clarion; grandchildren, Chip Peterson (Kelly) of Bothell, Wash., Brooke Yule (Bruce) of Everett, Wash., Meridith Lambert (Pat) of Bothell, Rhumen Guerrero of Lake Park, Ga., Leah Perello of Manila, Philippines; Judith Azanon (Christian) of Manila, Philippines; great grandchildren: Evan Peterson, Erik Peterson, Megan Lambert, Ashley Lambert, Elizabeth (Libby) Yule, Kailyn Guerrero, Ambria Cantrell; nieces, Nancy Tiedeman Byrd of Raleigh, N.C., Susan Tiedeman Wood (Tom) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; nephews, Philip Olsen (Jan) of Santa Rosa, Calif., Leo T. Olsen (Mary Kay) of White Heath, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Olsen Lembcke (Robert) of Green Valley, Ariz. In addition, she included some very special people in her life as part of her family, Dwight Sann (Patty), Mary Kelch, Natalie Tegtmeyer, all of Clarion, Bonnie Halford, Audrey Allen and other dear friends from Spirit Lake.

Annamarie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; parents, OJ and Emma Larson; and sister, Marcella Larson Tiedeman.
